Sharp Research Reveals SME Cybersecurity Confidence Gap
New research from Sharp, surveying 5,770 SME IT decision-makers across 11 European countries, highlights a critical disconnect between perceived Cybersecurity readiness and actual risk awareness. While many SMEs have embraced hybrid work models, cloud computing, and AI-driven automation, these advancements have also increased their exposure to Cyber threats.
Despite recognizing the risks, a significant number of SMEs lack confidence in their security posture and are not planning to increase IT security budgets, leaving them vulnerable. The study also found that many employees struggle to identify key threats, such as Malware, Ransomware, and Phishing, making businesses even easier targets.
With Cybercriminals actively exploiting security gaps, SMEs must take urgent steps to bolster their defences. Investing in Cybersecurity training, proactive threat detection, and robust incident response plans is now more crucial than ever.
