1). UK CYBERSECURITY: A new cybersecurity network spearheaded by the University of Oxford’s Department of Computer Science is set to launch early next year, supported by £6 million in funding from the UKRI Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). The Cyber Security Research and Networking Environment (CRANE) NetworkPlus seeks to enhance cybersecurity in the UK and globally, leveraging emerging technologies and strengthening societal resilience against future threats. The CRANE network will bring together academics, government agencies, industry leaders, and non-profit organizations to address both current and developing cybersecurity challenges.
2). MANAGED SERVICE PROVIDERS: Majority of UK businesses set to outsource cybersecurity operations within two years. A recent survey conducted by Logpoint indicates that 80% of UK businesses are expected to outsource their cybersecurity operations within the next two years. The study, which polled 1,762 C-suite executives, revealed that 28% of respondents anticipate their IT security teams will be managed by a third party. This figure builds on the existing 52% of UK businesses that already outsource this function. In contrast, the inclination to outsource cybersecurity operations is less pronounced in France and Germany. Currently, only 24% of French firms and 27% of German companies—where a significant majority maintain in-house cybersecurity teams—plan to outsource within the same timeframe.
