1). COMPLIANCE: NIS2 – Call for Coordinated NIS2 transposition needed to safeguard the single market. The recently updated NIS2 Directive, which aims to establish a robust framework for cybersecurity across the European Union, is set to be integrated into national laws by October 17, 2024. This is crucial for the EU’s single market, especially at this critical juncture. However, most Member States are opting to interpret and implement the common EU rules in their own ways. These differences in how Member States translate the NIS2 Directive into their National Cyber laws lead to a fragmented approach, ultimately weakening the overall cybersecurity of the single market.
2). CYBER SKILLS SHORTAGE: Cybersecurity Stress Levels Rise as Attacks Intensify – ISACA Report Reveals. According to ISACA’s newly released 2024 State of Cybersecurity report, 66% of cybersecurity professionals report that their roles are more stressful now than they were five years ago. This heightened pressure reflects the growing challenges posed by modern cyber threats, with 38% of organizations experiencing a rise in cyberattacks—up from 31% last year. The most common attack methods include social engineering (19%), malware (13%), unpatched systems (11%), and Denial of Service (11%).
3). WHAT IS CYBERSECURITY COMPLIANCE – Protecting Data and Building Trust – CyberKPI: Compliance is to adhere to standards and regulations set by law or authority groups. Organizations must achieve Compliance by establishing controls that protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information, with a focus on SMEs. For instance, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in Europe outlines specific requirements for the protection of personal data, making it vital for businesses to comply with these standards to avoid legal repercussions
