Welcome to Today’s Edition of CYBERInsights – My Daily Roundup of the Latest European SME Cybersecurity News including: 1). Juxtaposition on SME Vulnerability 2). Threat Analysis 3). The VPN Explained
1). SME CYBER SURVEY: UK SMEs More Vulnerable to Cyber Attack in 2024 – Inn a bizarre Juxtaposition on yesterdays report on European SMEs Vulnerability a new Survey conducted for JumpCloud. and outlined in their bi-annual (SME) IT Trends Report, “State of IT 2024: The Rise of AI, Economic Uncertainty, and Evolving Security Threats” The cast doubt as the report delves into the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on identity management, security challenges, economic uncertainties, and the growing reliance on managed service providers (MSPs) in IT operations.
2). THREAT ANALYSIS: BITSIGHT – UK Businesses have Lowest Cybersecurity Vulnerabilities in “Europe” The percentage of UK organisations with detectable known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs) is much lower than the European average according to the Prevalence and Remediation Report based on new research report from Bitsight. The research analysed 1.4 million organisations worldwide to highlight the types of cybersecurity vulnerabilities most prevalent and the time taken for remediation, highlighting the need for SMEs to recognise vulnerabilities.
3). VPN – Understanding The Virtual Private Network (VPN) A Virtual Private Network (VPN) is an essential technology for SMEs as it enables secure and private communication over a public network. By encrypting data and hiding the user’s IP address, VPNs establish a secure connection between the employees’ devices and the company’s network, ensuring the privacy and security of sensitive information. E.g. A small accounting firm with employees working remotely can use a VPN to securely access client financial data without compromising confidentiality.
