Welcome to Today’s Edition of CYBERInsights – My Daily Roundup of the Latest European SME Cybersecurity News including: 1). EU AI Act 2). Threat Intel: Romanian OcCG 3). GDPR Explained

1). EU DPAs (European Union Data Protection Authorities) are examining the effects that the newly passed EU AI Act and other tabled Data regulations will synergise with the already established GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) which has legislated the use and management of Personal Data by Businesses since 2018. The collective DPAs function as independent public authorities is to monitor and enforce the EUs data protection law.

2). THREAT INTEL: A suspected Organised Cybercrime Group (OcCG) linked to Romania is reported to be seeking lucrative new criminal “opportunities” in time honoured areas Phishing, DDoS Attacks & Cryptomining. The Rubycarp group remains active a decade after appearing on the Threat landscape. Researchers from Sysdig are also examining Rubycarps links to another Romanian Threat Actor Outlaw. 3). WHAT IS GDPR? – Unlocking GDPR: To assist our readers and members navigate the GDPR Minefield – A Comprehensive Guide to Data Protection Regulations. The GDPR is a data privacy regulation from Europe that grants rights to individuals in the EU/EEA over how their personal information gets processed, irrespective of whether the processing occurs online or offline, with a specific focus on SMEs and Small Businesses.
