1). SKILLS GAP: UPSKILLING – UK Government Plans Better Cyber Defence and Upskilling. A government-led report on improving cyber skills and tackling cybercrime is to be developed. UK registered organisations can apply for a share of up to £1.3 million targeting cyber skills and innovation for the growth of the cyber security sector. This funding is from the Department of Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT). Competition opens: Monday 16 September 2024 – Competition closes: Friday18 October 2024 11:00am.
2). RANSOMWARE: Ransomware can affect us all, from individuals, small business, public sector & large organisations. The UK NCSC (National Cyber Security Centre) has created a guide to ransomware. Ransomware is a type of malware which prevents you from accessing your device and the data stored on it, usually by encrypting your files. A criminal group will then demand a ransom in exchange for decryption. The computer itself may become locked, or the data on it might be encrypted, stolen or deleted. The attackers may also threaten to leak the data they steal.
