1). UK: SKILLS GAP – Around 44% of UK businesses face skills gaps in fundamental technical cybersecurity areas, according to the latest government report. The study examined 637,000 businesses and found that 27% (or 390,000) lack advanced skills, such as penetration testing. Gaps in incident management skills have also surged, rising from 27% in 2020 to 48% in 2024. These findings come from the UK Department for Science, Innovation & Technology’s (DSIT) Cyber Security Skills in the UK Labour Market 2024 report, which is now in its sixth edition.
2). UK: TELECOMS – Telecom giant identifies 2,000 potential Cybersecurity Attacks Every Second. The data, unveiled at BT’s Secure Tomorrow cyber security festival at its Adastral Park research centre, showed that web-connected devices are scanned over 1,000 times a day by known malicious sources – an average of once every 90 seconds. While some scans are conducted legitimately for security monitoring, three in four (78%) are not harmless – indicating that hackers are looking for weaknesses in the online systems of businesses and essential public services, as smart tech becomes common.
3). WHAT IS CYBER TRAINING – Enhancing SME Resilience: The Power of Cybersecurity Training– CyberKPI: Cybersecurity Training teaches response procedures for addressing and managing risks to computer systems. Learning how to identify threats like Cyberattacks, data hacks and Phishing activities, along with the protocols for assessing the risk level. Employees trained in Cybersecurity threats are better prepared to recognise suspicious emails, thus reducing the risk of falling victim to Phishing attacks.
